In June 2023, we published approval criteria for GCSEs and related Level 2 qualifications of the new series of National Qualifications 1416, which are designed to support the Curriculum for Wales 316.

The learners who study these new qualifications will have the opportunity to go on to do AS and A Level courses in September 2027 (Wave 1) and September 2028 (Wave 2).桂

Qualifications Wales has already announced that new AS and Higher qualifications will be developed for Welsh. These approval criteria will be published in September 2025 following a period of consultation.桂

Please note: Fluency in Welsh is essential for this post.
